Joseph Paul Di Giacomo
Born September 13, 1952 in North Brunswick, New Jersey, Died November 5, 2016, Millersville, Maryland.
Loving father of Joey Di Giacomo (deceased), Kara Lynne Di Giacomo-Labetti and Danica Cherise Di Giacomo. Beloved Son of Irene Di Giacomo and Joseph Di Giacomo (Joe's hero) , and Stepson of Jeanne Di Giacomo. Beloved Brother of Karen Robel, Cynthia Ferrugia, Diane Batson, and Marty Di Giacomo. Loving Step brother of Nicole Repke and Danielle Shirley. Loving grandfather of Isabella Grace Labetti, his pride and joy.
Joseph who was a business man and artist by trade, had many loves in his life, but none more than his family, friends, and The New York Yankees. Joe studied Art History at Stonybrook University on Long Island, he then worked as Vice President of MARJO/ARC SASH Windows before becoming owner of Video Encounter in New Jersey. The success of his chain of video stores garnered him the nickname "Video Joe". He was best known by all who loved and knew him as the life of the party and the person we could most count on to cheer us all up when we needed it the most. He was a free spirit who lived his life his way, always on his terms, kept his loved ones close, and what a wonderful life he had. His paintings and drawings touched and moved so many and proudly hang all over the world in the homes of friends, relatives and collectors. His inspiration was surrealism and he was moved most by the works of Salvador Dali'. We all will remember Joseph as a man and artist who had unconditional love for his children, grandchild, family, friends, extended family and beloved dog, Ziggy. Joe most recently lived with his daughter Kara and her family in Maryland. We love you Joe and will see you again.
The family will be holding a private memorial service this week and a celebration of Joe's life in December 2016. Details will be provided at a later time. We ask in lieu of flowers that you make a tax deductible donation to the International Child Art Foundation in the name of Joseph P. Di Giacomo after November 8, 2016 ( www.icaf.org/josephpdigiacomo ). The Arts and the further education of Art for Children were two of Joe's passions in life and the family appreciates your donations to honor his legacy.
