Johnny Clifford McDonald, 80, of Severna Park, died of natural causes Aug. 13 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mr. McDonald was born March 30, 1924, in Harrisburg, N.C., where he was reared.

He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the Philippines.

He worked as crane operator and foreman in the maintenance shop at the Maryland Port Authority, retiring in 1986. Subsequently he drove a school bus for Fays Bus Service in Anne Arundel County.

A member of the American Legion, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and gardening.

He was the husband of the late Betty Lucille McDonald, who died in 1997.

Surviving are two sons, David McDonald of Towson and Jay S. McDonald of Cincinnati; two daughters, Linda G. Swartz of Annapolis and Laurie A. Goodman of Arbutus; three brothers, Luke and Frank McDonald, both of North Carolina, and George McDonald of Glen Burnie; three sisters, Myrtle Stone and Mary Louder, both of North Carolina, and Bernice Carroll of Alabama; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
