John Richard Wood, 70, a 39 year resident of Severna Park, died on October 25, 2008 at home, due to lung cancer after a five year illness.

He was born on August 2, 1938 in Washington, DC, where he was raised.
He was a past resident of Prince Georges County.

Mr. Wood graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, DC.
He worked as a mechanical engineer for Boland Services and retired after fifty years of service.

He enjoyed boating and fishing.

He was survived by his wife, Ruth Marr Wood, whom he had married on October 1, 1960; two daughters, Donna McMullen of Grand Rapids, MI and Victoria Burgess of Annapolis, MD; and three grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, October 29, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.
A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 am.
Interment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
