John Williams
John H. "Jack" Williams, 78, a resident of Severna Park for 29 years, died of natural causes April 19 in his home.
Mr. Williams was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Scranton, Pa., and was raised in Queens, N.Y.
He entered the Marine Corps in 1948, where he worked in the Marine Intelligence Battalion and served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired in 1968 and received 10 medals of citation.
He retired in 1990 from the US Postal Service, where he worked for over 23 years.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
He was an avid gardener, Orioles and Ravens fan.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn G. Williams; his former wife, Lyn Sousa Williams of Annapolis; one son, Jack William Jr. of Severna Park; three daughters, Kathy Kenner, Eileen Williams and Mary Tillar of Arnold; three stepsons, Randy Box of Glen Burnie, Jeff Box of Pasadena and Derrik Box of Davidsonville; one stepdaughter, Kim Box of Relay; one brother, Gerald Williams of Santa Clara, Calif.; and 16 grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.
A funeral service will be held at noon tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America, P.O. Box 1304, Millersville, MD 21108, or to M.A.D.D., 11820 Parkland Drive, Number 250, Rockville, MD 20831.
