John Patrick Sheridan, 60, passed away on June 27, 2024 at Charter Senior Living Center of Annapolis. John was born on February 9, 1964 in Rockville Centre, NY.

John was born on Long Island, New York and moved with his family to Connecticut as a child. While growing up, he enjoyed playing ice hockey at the Enfield Twin Rinks. His parents have fond memories of watching John at early morning hockey practice. John graduated from Enfield High School in Connecticut as an honor student who also lettered in football and hockey. He went on to the University of Dayton (Ohio) and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at the University of Dayton, John participated in the ROTC program.

After graduation, John served in the US Army and was stationed at several locations within the US including Aberdeen proving grounds and Fort Knox. John had attained the rank of Captain when his enlistment was completed. During his time in the military John utilized his engineering and leadership skills by supervising maintenance of various armament and heavy vehicle systems. Upon honorable discharge, John returned to Ohio and began work at Copeland, a division of Emerson Electric that produces scroll compressors for air conditioning units. John worked in many roles of increasing responsibility within the engineering department at Emerson. He was the inventor of 6 US patents and enjoyed his work there immensely. John retired from Emerson after 30 years of service.

In 2020, John was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease and returned to CT to live with his mother and be closer to his relatives there. In 2022, he moved to MD to undergo more extensive treatment for his condition and to be closer with family members in MD. John was predeceased by his father William G. Sheridan of Enfield, CT. He is survived by his mother, Lillian B. Sheridan of Severna Park, MD; his sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Peter McGraw of Severna Park, MD; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Nanette Sheridan of Southington, CT, his nephew William C. Sheridan of Moodus, Ct, his niece Margaret E. Sheridan of Manchester, CT, his nephew Mike McGraw with wife Molly & daughter Emma of Baltimore, MD, and his niece Kristina McGraw Acton and husband Keith of Crownsville, MD. The family would like to thank the staff at Charter Senior Living  and Hospice of the Chesapeake for taking care of John.
