John B. Rund Sr., of St. Margaret's, Maryland, died on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his home. He was 74. Born in Baltimore on November 3, 1943, John grew up in Arbutus, Maryland, and attended Catonsville High School. In 1964 he married Gloria Rund (née Ritterbusch), and together they had three children, John Rund Jr. (Jack), Deborah Pulone, and Michael Rund. John worked for C&P Telephone—later, Bell Atlantic—for 29 years before retiring to drive a school bus. Several years later John returned to Bell Atlantic, now Verizon, on a part-time basis to train the next generation of telephone technicians. He coached little league and in 2002 circumnavigated the Delmarva peninsula on a jetski. He was an avid cyclist who also enjoyed long kayak rides. John was known to his family, friends, and neighbors as supportive, generous, and easy going. His wife will remember him as a partner, best friend, and travel companion. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his wife, children, and six grandchildren, Kelly Rund, Emily Rund, Maxwell Pulone, Olivia Pulone, Sofia Pulone, and Veda Walley-Rund.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy., Severna Park, MD 21146.

Viewing will also be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Severna Park United Methodist Church, 731 Benfield Blvd., Severna Park, MD 21146. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in John's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.
