John A. Randall formerly of 901 Hillen Drive, Millersville, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home where he had resided for nearly a year.
John Albertus Randall was born Sept. 2, 1920 on Salem, MA of parents Ralph F. and Bertha V.(Miller) Randall. He served in WWII as an U.S. Army medic, including on the Pacific islands of Saipan and Tinian. He was on TInian the day the Enola Gay took off on the historic mission to drop the world's first atomic bomb.
He married Norma Brookes in December, 1947 in Haddam, CT. After graduating from Indiana Technical College with a degree in Chemical Engineering he went to work for the Aetna Insurance Co. In 1954 he was transferred to Baltimore, MD. After nearly 20 years with Aetna he moved on to work as a Safety Engineer for the City of Baltimore which later became a State position from which he later retired,
Over the years he was active with Severna Park's Boy Scout Troop 855, President of Severna Park High School's Falcon Field Association and for many years an active member of the Severna Park Lions Club. He was an avid Orioles fan.
Mr. Randall was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Ralph and his wife of over 50 years, Norma.
He is survived by sons John B. Randall of Racine, WI and Robert C. and Mary Jo (Martin) Randall of Lake City Florida; Grandchildren: Brooke (Randall) and David DeLaO, Sarah (Randall)and Donald Nuttall, Kathryn Randall all of Racine, WI; Katie Randall and Jeffrey Randall, both of St. Augustine, FL, Kelly (Randall) and Kevin Schummer of Chicago, IL and Jason and Amy (Randall) Meyer of Allegan, MI; and Great Grandchildren: Hunter and Braeden DeLaO, Brock Nuttall, Ayden and Gracyn Ansted, Malachi and Aliza Meyer, and Rowan Randall.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 5 pm-7 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial at Loudon Park Cemetery,3620 Wilkens Ave. Baltimore, MD.
