John "Jack" Harold Overholser passed away peacefully Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the age of 95. Born September 12, 1922 to William and Helen Overholser in Philadelphia, Pa.

Jack is survived by his sons, William and John Overholser, daughter in law, Leslie Overholser, sister, Pat Lewis of Raleigh NC, and sister in law, Maude Cowardin of Richmond VA  as well as many loving nieces  and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his wife, Madeline and son, Paul.

Jack graduated from Germantown High School and later earned a BA degree in English from La Salle University in Philadelphia .He served active duty in the military as a Navigator 1 st Class and Flight Officer with the 324 th Army Airforce from 1942-1946.

Jack married the love of his life Madeline Wingo in 1952 and remained married until her death in 2007.  They had three sons William, John and Paul. He was a wonderful father and mentor who encouraged participation in the arts. He fostered positivity and modesty and above all else honesty.

A 50-year resident of Severna Park he moved to Maryland in 1968. He had a long and distinguished career as Sales Engineer for Delaware Valley Machine Tool Co. of Warminster PA until his retirement in 1988.  Jack was well revered and respected by his customers and colleagues alike making many lifelong friends from his business relationships.

Jack spent time golfing, boating and traveling. He and Madeline enjoyed many trips vacationing with friends and relatives. Jack loved reading, films and watching the Ravens with family. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. with a Memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home at 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park MD 21146.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
