John William O'Brien, 66, a 9 year resident of Severna Park, passed away on February 25, 2016 at FutureCare of Chesapeake in Arnold.

He was born on December 9, 1949 in Plainfield, NJ, raised in Edison NJ, and previously lived in Boone NC, Wilmington, NC, Jackson, NJ, and Edison, NJ.

John attended Flynn School in Perth Amboy, NJ for special education until age 21. John then worked at a sheltered workshop for two years. At this time, John shared time between the homes of his sister Patricia, his brother Jim, and sister Terrie (between New Jersey and Maryland). Over the course of 25 years he filled the lives of his siblings, his nieces and nephews with joy, love and silliness. He was surrounded by countless family friends/neighbors who shared in his many loves and escapades.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Stephen O'Brien and Gertrude Alice (Brace) O'Brien; his sister, Patricia Alice O'Brien and his brother, James Brace O'Brien.

He is survived by his sister, Terrie Eileen O'Brien; 8 nieces, Patricia Ann, Kathleen Alice, Eileen Ann, Jeanne Margaret, Karen Elizabeth, Jammie Lynn, Tracey Diane, and Suzanne Alice; 3 nephews, James Neilson, James Monroe, and Kevin Charles; 15 great nieces and great nephews; and 3 great-great nephews.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park, with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 pm on Tuesday night.

Inurnment will be on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10 AM in Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen, NJ.
