John "Jack" J. Murray passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018 in Severna Park, MD at the age of 84.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Julie Murray; nephew James Murray, Michael Miller, and Marty Miller; nieces Kathy Shuey, Maureen Castro, and Megan Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Stapleton in 2014.

Jack was born May 4, 1934 in Cornwall, NY to James and Margaret Murray. After a tour during the Korean conflict with the US Army, he attended Mohawk Valley College and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Business. He married Peggy, from Amenia, NY, in 1958.

His 20 year career with International Harvester began in 1962 in a management trainee position but he quickly moved up the ranks, as well as across the North and Mid-East area. Working first in Burlington, Vermont, West Haven, Connecticut, and Buffalo, New York, he then stepped into the Assistant Regional Manager role for the Baltimore region in 1969 and then the Philadelphia region in 1975. By 1978, Jack was Vice President of Fleet Truck Sales for International. In 1982, he bought the Beltway International Dealership in Halethorpe, MD, which he ran until he retired.

Friends may visit on Sunday July 22, 2018 from 1:00pm-4:00pm in the Barranco & Sons,P.A.  Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. All services and burial will be taken care of in New York by the Hufcut Funeral Home 3159 Rt 22 Dover Plains, NY 12522.

All are welcome to attend to celebrate Jack's life. Services and internment will occur at Immaculate Conception Cemetery on July 25, 2018 at 1 pm in Amenia, NY.


A celebration of his life will be held at the Rolling Road Country Club in Catonsville, MD on a date TBD. In lieu of flowers, please send donations addressed to the charity of your choice to Jack Saum Sr. at 1800 Sulphur Spring Road, Baltimore, MD 21227. Please include the address of the charity so we may forward it in Jack and Peggy's name.
