John Minor
John Parker Minor, 86, of Arnold, died Jan. 20 at Future Care-Chesapeake of complications of diabetes after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Minor was born Feb. 9, 1918, in Norfolk, Va., graduated from Maury High School in 1936 and served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater of operations.
He was a salesman and box designer for St. Joe Paper Co., in Norfolk, Va., from which he retired in 1984.
He was a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church for 53 years and served as a deacon and elder. During the 1950s and 1960s he was active in Boy Scout Troop 8 at Royster and in later years was involved with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
His wife of 56 years, Hope Falconer Minor, died in 2002, and his son, John Minor Jr., died in 2000. He was the son of the late Herbert and Alma Minor and the brother of the late Marie Henley.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Kappel of Severna Park; and three granddaughters.
