John C. McManus, Sr., 72, of Severna Park (lovingly known as "Aug") died bravely in the early hours of December 24, 2015 at the Mandrin House (Hospice of the Chesapeake) in Harwood, MD following a heroic 13 year battle against prostate cancer. He was born March 23, 1943 in Camden, NJ to the late Bernard & Helen McManus. John served with distinction in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965 and went on to receive his Bachelors degree from Loyola College of Maryland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan, as well as his two children, John McManus, Jr. of Alexandria, VA and Emily Anderson of Severna Park, MD, along with her husband, Marc Anderson, and his 2 beloved grandchildren, Maxwell and Wesley; his brother, Bernard McManus, Jr. of Reisterstown, MD; his sister, Margaret Smith of Dallas, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Michael & Patrick McManus.

John was a 36 year resident of Severna Park and an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. His professional career included positions in building management and consulting. He was an avid sports fan and passionate supporter of the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Maryland Terrapins and US Men's Soccer. What brought John the most joy, however, was his family. John loved nothing more than holding court as Grill Master on Sunday afternoons surrounded by those he loved.
