John McCool

John Shepard McCool, 90, of Pasadena and previously of Arnold, died of natural causes June 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mr. McCool was born March 22, 1918, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Raymond and Hazel McCool. He earned a bachelor's degree and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., and earned a law degree from Fordham University. He was admitted to the New York State Bar.

He worked for the FBI as a special agent, and joined the New York City Airport Security Council after his retirement. He later worked for Duke Power Co. in Charlotte, N.C.

He was a member of the choir and a deacon at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church in Arnold, and served as treasurer of My Brother's Pantry and a board member of the Dorado Hills Community Association in Arnold. He also hosted several foreign exchange students and chaperones.

He enjoyed photography, languages, travel, and family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emilie J. McCool; and his second wife, Dessa McCool.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd McCool of Astoria, N.Y.; one daughter, Margaret Lidz of Pasadena; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A family gathering will be held in New York City and interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
