John Adam Leipold, 94, passed away peacefully in his home in Arnold, Maryland on November 13, 2020. Adam was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 26 to parents Ernest Adam Leipold and Charlotte Moore Leipold. He graduated from City College High School in Baltimore and then served in the Navy during World War II. After the war he attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a major in physical education. Adam also later took classes at the University of Maryland to become certified as a guidance counselor. He worked for the Baltimore City Public Schools as a teacher and a guidance counselor until he retired in 1987.

Adam was a long-time active member of Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church. His main interests were boating on the Chesapeake Bay, skiing in Colorado and spending time with his family. Adam spent many years as a member of the Baltimore Yacht Club and as a member of the National Ski Patrol. He loved to exercise and rode his bike and lifted weights until almost the very end of his life.

Adam was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Charlotte Leipold and his brothers Ernie Leipold and Carroll Leipold. He is survived by his wife Ann Leipold, and six children, Liz Leipold (Ron Wheeler), Wendy Leipold Hayes, Karl Leipold, Alice Leipold Barratt (Daniel), Dawn Adam Leipold (Chris Burkett) and John Boese (Vita). He is also survived by six grandchildren Nicole Herring, Timmy Mayhew, Hunter Hayes, Elizabeth Leipold, Dana Olson, Katie Leipold and Evie Boese, and 3 great grandsons, Jonah, Jaxton and Jerrick Herring.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Our Anchor Presbyterian Church at a future date due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
