John Richard Leigh, 63, of Severna Park, MD, passed away suddenly of heart failure on November 1, 2008 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD.

John was born in Boston, MA on September 11, 1945. He was a Vietnam veteran and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Boston University and a Masters from Harvard University. Over the years he worked in Massachusetts for the Newburyport Redevelopment Authority, the City of Salem, the City of Gloucester, and the Boston Redevelopment Authority. He and his family moved to Severna Park, MD in 1991 where John worked as a Project Manager for the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment in Washington D.C.

He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots Fan. He enjoyed fishing, model trains, golf, reading, and travel.

John is predeceased by his father Robert of Boston, MA, and brother Robert of Cotuit, MA. He is survived by his mother Mary, his wife of 32 years, Alice, his son and daughter-in-law C.J. and Melissa of Severna Park, MD., his daughter Katie of Safety Harbor, FL and two grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, November 5, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway.
A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 6 at 10 AM
Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Maryland Open Community Program of the Benedictine School, 14299 Benedictine Lane Ridgely, MD 21660.
