John Klar
John Frederick Klar Jr., 69, of Arnold, died April 16 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
The son of Roma Lee and John Frederick Klar, Mr. Klar was born in 1934 in Wann, Okla.
Mr. Klar attended Western High School in Washington, D.C., and the University of Maryland, where he played basketball and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated in 1956 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
Subsequently he served in the Marine Corps after completing Officers Candidate School.
Surviving are his second wife, Barbara Novak, whom he married June 15, 2002; two sons, John and Jim Klar of Manassas, Va.; and one daughter, Chrystie of Catonsville.
He was formerly married to Chrystene "Tene" Louise Bing, who died in 2001. They were married in 1959.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.
