IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John S.
Insley
August 16, 1940 – June 28, 2025
John S. Insley, Sr. of Pasadena, MD, son of Aphary W. Insley and Virginia Insley, passed on June 28, 2025. Born in Baltimore, MD in 1940, as a child he and his family moved to Anne Arundel County, MD. With his brother and sisters he grew up on a farm where he developed his life-long love of hunting and fishing. In 1959 he married his wife, Etta, and that same year enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He completed his military service in 1962 and returned to his job with Anne Arundel County Public Schools where he worked for 37 years. John and Etta were married 61 years and spent the remainder of their lives in the home they built together in Pasadena. John enjoyed hunting, crabbing, and fishing in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, tending to his garden, and the many trips he and Etta took to Las Vegas. John became an avid bass fisherman and especially enjoyed fishing at Lake Anna in Virginia. John most enjoyed the time he spent with his friends, having lunch at American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park, and was a decades-long Odd Fellow and Mason. John was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and his brother Lawrence Donald Insley. He is survived by his son John, Jr. and his wife Sharon, his sisters, Katherine Marie Myers and Constance Jacqueline Buckheit, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday July 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park MD, 21146. Interment will be private.
