John Evans
John William Evans, 60, a longtime resident of Severna Park and formerly of Millersville, died of natural causes March 18 at home after a brief illness.
The son of the late William T. and Virginia I. Burley-Evans, Mr. Evans was born Sept. 18, 1944, in Lynchburg, Va. and reared in Severna Park, where he graduated from Severna Park High School in 1962.
He served in the Army from 1962 to 1965, where he was stationed at Camp Casey in Korea.
Retiring in 1997, he worked for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade for 35 years.
An avid football fan, he was a charter member of Colts Coral #27 and Ravens Roost #27. He was also a member of American Legion #175.
Among his interests were bowling, fishing and travel.
Surviving are his wife, Georgia Evans, whom he married Dec. 1, 1995; two daughters, Tracy Capel of Severna Park and Christine Marks of Arnold; two step-children, Sharon Hubble of Baltimore and Joe Fuller of Hampstead, Md.; two brothers, Barry Evans of Pasadena and Thomas "Sonny" Evans of Lynchburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd. in Elkridge.
