John Crout Jr.

John E. Crout Jr., 84, a resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, died May 28 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Mr. Crout was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Baltimore, where he was raised.

He was the chief court reporter for the Baltimore City Circuit Court until his retirement in 1988.

He enjoyed playing cards and vacationing in Florida, as well spending time with his pet dog and bird.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Virginia Reese Crout.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Crout of Arnold and Roger G. Crout of Marydel; one daughter, Janis C. Benil of Stevensville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glen Haven Cemetery in Glen Burnie.
