John P.E. Brokx, Sr., 80, of Severna Park, died September 5, 2008 of complications due to Alzheimer's Disease. John was born on January 9, 1928 in New York City. He grew up in York, PA and later attended high school in Wappingers Falls, NY, graduating in 1946. The next year he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. After completing military service, he attended the Albany Business College and Sienna College, finally receiving his BA from the University of Houston.

Always involved in various activities including Boy Scouts, community and church associations, and his daughter's gymnastics team, he was ultimately inducted into the Old Mill High School Hall of Fame for 25 years of service as Treasurer of the Boosters Club. He also performed volunteer work with Nevamar, Westinghouse, and Tower Federal Credit Unions.

He enjoyed golf, antique hunting with his wife, and collecting coins and miniature soldiers. In 1993, he retired from the Nevamar Corporation as an Internal Auditor after 28 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita Dahlem; his son, John Brokx, Jr. (wife:Dora) from Perris, CA; two daughters, Michele Mixson (husband: Richard) of Miami, FL and Suzanne McGarity of Severna Park; and four grandchildren, Kyle and Karly Mixson, Ryan McGarity and Kelly Brokx.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 am on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church in Millersville, MD with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
