John (Jack) Francis Berie Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 at In Comforting Arms in Severna Park Maryland.  He was a valiant warrior in his fight with Alzheimers.  Jack was born on June 20, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to John Francis and Carolyn Marcella Berie.

Jack was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He was a faithful alter boy for over 12 years at St. Cyrils of Alexandria.  His enthusiasm for golf began when he became a caddy as young boy at Highland Country Club. He played football for North Catholic High School where he graduated in 1952.  After high school he attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh before he entered the United States Navy.

After his two years of service in the Navy, Jack's professional career began in sales where he worked for various companies in Pittsburgh including multiple years at Flintkote Flooring as a National Account Manager.  In 1980, Jack's career took him to Baltimore Maryland where he became the National Sales Manager for Genstar then becoming a founding partner with American Stone Mix before retiring at the age of 60.

Jack wed Alice Gloria Zehr in 1959 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania.  Jack and Alice moved to Hampton Township, Pennsylvania where they raised their three daughters and created lifelong friendships. They were happily married for 58 years.

Jack was a member of the Elks Lodge for several years in Etna, Pennsylvania.  In Maryland, his passion for the water and boating took him to Middle River Yacht Club and then as a member of Sparrows Point Country Club.  Jack was also President of the Homeowners Association in Loveton Farms, Maryland.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife Alice, of Gambrills, Maryland.  Jack was extremely proud of his daughters Cindy Glanzer and her husband Jeff of Fort Collins Colorado; Karen Glanzer of Loveland, Colorado and Mary Beth Pfau and her husband Rich of Millersville, Maryland.  He is also survived by his sister Carol Troy of Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania and his brother David Berie of Beaver Creek, Ohio. Jack's pride and joy were his eight grandchildren Zachery Glanzer, Jeremy Glanzer, Andrew Glanzer, Josiah Glanzer, Gabriel Henault, Chelsea Glanzer, Joey Henault & Nicholas Henault.

Jack was preceded in death by his father John Francis Berie Sr. and his mother Carolyn Marcella Berie.  A mass and celebration of Jack's life will be held in June with the time and place to be determined.
