John Joseph Bartosiewicz, 91, of Bowie and Annapolis, Maryland, passed peacefully on December 4th, following a brief illness.
Born June 12, 1923, in New Britain, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Joseph Bartosiewicz and Regina Niedzelska.
John is survived by a son Mike, wife Laurie, and grandson Michael; a daughter Pat, husband Bob Rosensteel, and granddaughter Lauren Hartman and fiancé Jeff Krach; and a son John Jr., wife Chris, and grandchildren Connor, John III, Kristina, Alana, Zachary, and Kayla and husband Luis. He is also survived by two sisters, Terri Morowski and Ann Bindas who live in New Britain, as well as nieces and nephews across the country.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Berneice Anderson Bartosiewicz, and brothers Joe and wife Ida, Stanley and wife Stephanie, Frank and wife Eleanor, and Eddie.
John served his country as a Private 1st Class in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a radio operator and tail gunner. He graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. His work career was spent as an Economist for the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. He and his family lived in Washington, D.C., Greenbelt, Clinton, and Bowie, Maryland. For the past three years, he lived at Atria Manresa in Annapolis, Maryland. The family is grateful for the care with which John was treated at Atria Manresa, Anne Arundel Medical Center, and Mandrin Hospice House.
John was a collector of fine art and collectibles, and a die-hard Redskins fan. He was passionate about his family's Polish heritage, loved a good time, and was always looking for a great bargain.
Services will be held at the Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery at 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623, at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122. Place John's name and "Mandrin House" in the memo line.
