John Julian Anderson, Sr., 79, of Arnold, MD and previously of Brooklyn Park, died on May 3, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness with cancer.
John was born on October 25, 1931 in Baltimore, where he was raised. He attended Poly Technical Institute in Baltimore, and later, the University of Maryland, where he earned a Master's Degree in Education. Mr. Anderson was employed with the Anne Arundel County Board of Education, where he served for 31 years.
John was a member of the Masonic Order and Asbury United Methodist Church. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen M. Anderson; his sons, John Julian Anderson, Jr. of Bowie, MD and David Wayne Anderson of Easton, MD; as well as, his four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Steven, Julie, and Eric.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road Arnold, MD 21012. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:00 at the church, with the interment to follow in the church cemetery. A social gathering will take place at the church Family Life Center at 6:15pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
