Johan Sikkar, of Severna Park, MD passed away on February 25, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 18, 1933 to Johannes and Helda Sikkar in Tartu, Estonia. He had since lived in Falls Church and Stafford Virginia before moving to Maryland. Johan attended Emory University in Georgia, the Colorado School of Mines, the University of Montana, and finally Virginia Tech. He earned two Masters Degrees. He worked for Burns & McDonnell, then later for Metro working in design direction for line alignment. Johan enjoyed politics and was a voracious reader and loved to learn. He loved lectures and films, especially National Geographic lectures on various cultures. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and Sudoku and loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Kitchen, his daughter, Christina Sikkar Palmeri of Fredericksburg, VA, his oldest child, Marianna D. Sikkar of Oklahoma City, OK, his two sons, Paul Johan Sikkar of Ashland, VA, and Mark David Sikkar also of Ashland, as well as his youngest daughter, Elizabeth Sikkar of Sterling, VA.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 2:00-3:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm at the funeral home chapel.
