Joanne Lee Lennox (Ne Weimer) born to Robert and Ruth Weimer, on June 12, 1937, in Du Bois, PA., passed peacefully at her home, in the presence of her family, on November 4th, 2022. Joanne became a Nurse at the Greensburg Hospital Nursing School, when she met and Married Robert Lennox, a lab student at the hospital. The two went on to pursue long careers in Nursing and Public Health in Africa, as well as in the US. Joanne served as an emergency Nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, and as a Peace Corps CME in Washington, DC, and Africa. Joanne was mother to a daughter, Kelly, who works in Art, Film and Theater in Baltimore, and son, Scott, who is Autistic, and lives in Virginia, in a supported lifestyle through Community Living Alternatives.  Joanne's talents and interests were exciting and varied. She was an equestrian, who taught herself and her daughter to ride English style, and went on to learn to play Polo, competing in Africa, shoulder to shoulder with Kings. Back in the States, she stayed on horseback, and got into some dressage and barrel racing. She dabbled in music, and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband of 63 years, on many cruises. She was a belly dancer, Sailor, family boat First Mate, Air Ambulance Nurse, Bush, Triage, Shock Trauma, Accident, and OBGYN nurse. She was a beader, jewelry maker, crafter, event organizer, and the most excellent cook, proficient in world cuisine. She was a costume maker, an accomplished seamstress of window treatments, kids clothes, dog outerwear, and marionettes. She was a sunset photographer, baby bird saver, a praying mantis feeder, and spider observer. Secretly she was a veterinarian, zoologist, and geologist, a wound stitcher of human and animals, alike, even a bone setter. Spanning the globe, she used her innate sense and know- how to facilitate just about any situation that we could want to experience. From taking the ball and running with the theme and planning every detail of an event, to being the one that stays until every last tidbit is tucked away in the fridge, was there for every life occasion, celebration, and catastrophe. During her last 17 months, she addressed what each day brought her peacefully, and with the grace and fortitude that might be noted in the memoirs of a queen.

Joanne did visit tombs in Egypt. One of her special interests was Nefertiti, and her everlasting love, and beauty. My  hope is that on her last days, and for always, I was able to make her understand Jo will forever  be standing shoulder to shoulder with her, protector and champion our family, for all time…
