Joanne Howells Cannon, 72, passed away at her home in Arnold, MD on October 28, 2011. She graduated from the Washington Hospital Center School of Nursing in 1960 and worked at the Center for several years. She later worked at Prince George's County General Hospital. In 1980 she married the late Roger C. Cannon, and they moved to Arnold. While living in Arnold she worked at North Arundel Hospital until she retired. Joanne was the consummate care-giver, always there when anyone needed her.
Progressive cardiac and neurological illnesses over the past decade led up to her death.
Joanne is survived by her mother, Virginia Hastings Howells, Severna Park; her son, Jeffrey Neviaser and his wife Kathy, Arnold, MD, and her brother, Dennis Howells and his wife Ann, Carrollton, TX. She also leaves two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her father, William A. Howells, and her husband, Roger C. Cannon.
In accordance with Joanne's final wishes, the only memorial will be a brief ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery 11:00AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 when her ashes will be interred with those of her husband.
