IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne M.
Alewine
November 5, 1964 – January 25, 2023
On January 25, 2023, Joanne Margaret Alewine, mother, daughter, sister and dear friend, passed away after a brief illness surrounded by her devoted parents and son.
The oldest of four children, Joanne was born on November 5th, 1964, in Silver Spring, MD. She briefly lived in the DC area and Ocean City, MD before moving to Severna Park in 1974. Joanne graduated from Severna Park High School in 1983. After high school Joanne worked as an Administrative Assistant for several years at Mid-Atlantic Fisheries, and then for over 25 years at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in Annapolis, MD before retiring.
Her greatest joy came from raising her loving son, Joshua and supporting his martial arts and other hobbies. Joanne also loved being a wonderful aunt, caring daughter, loving sister and cherished friend to many. She loved spending time talking, lounging by the pool, watching Lifetime and Reality shows, and hanging out with her Ya-Ya sisters. Ocean City, MD was her happy place where she'd be in her flip flops and one of her many concert t-shirts. Joanne was an excellent baker and made dozens of custom birthday cakes for family and friends throughout the years. Her smile and cheerful mannerisms were contagious, and she often made others feel as they were her favorite. Joanne possessed a wicked sense of humor and there was always much laughter when she was around.
Joanne is survived by her beloved son, Joshua M. Woodard of Severna Park, MD. Also surviving are her parents, Robert and Judith Alewine of Severna Park, MD, her sister and brother-in-law, Bethanie and David Stratton of Pasadena, MD, her sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and George Bevins of Crownsville, MD, and her brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Dara Alewine of Annapolis, MD. Joanne is also survived by four nieces, one nephew, three aunts, two uncles and seven first cousins.
Visitation will be held at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. on Sunday, January 29th from 11am-12pm, with a service of remembrance from 12pm-1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joanne to the Lupus Foundation of America. https://rb.gy/xl58fi
