JoAnn Read
JoAnn S. Read, 67, a resident of Gambrills for six years, and previously of Annapolis for 15 years, died of congestive heart failure March 29 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Read was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Utica, N.Y., to Edwin W. Smith of Gambrills and the late Myrtle E. Smith, and was raised in Washington Mills, N.Y.
She retired from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield after 21 years, where she worked as an administrative assistant.
She enjoyed reading and spending time with her friends. She loved animals, especially cats.
Survivors include one brother, E. Richard Covert of New York City; and one sister, Isobel Seubert of New Oxford, Pa.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Rowe Blvd. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Callie Cats, P.O. Box 6238, Baltimore, MD 21206.
