Obituary

Joann G. Jernigan, 80, of Pasadena, MD died on February 22, 2010 at her home after a short illness.

She was born in Baltimore on August 23, 1929 to her parents, John and Doris Gunther. Raised in Arbutus, she also lived in Severna Park, Chester, and Easton prior to moving to Pasadena eight years ago. She was self employed and served as a secretary in later years.

Mrs. Jernigan was a charter member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, and later, was associated with Grace Lutheran Church in Easton. She was active in all aspects of life at Our Shepherd. She enjoyed china painting, traveling, and spending time with her family and her extended church family.

Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Jernigan in 1987; her son, Joseph C. Jernigan and one granddaughter. She is survived by her sons, John R. Jernigan and (Patricia A. Greenfield) of Pasadena, James W. Jernigan and (Sharon K. Jernigan) of Pasadena; her daughter, Jan L. Joines and (James T. Joines, Jr.) of Gurnee, IL; as well as, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Friends and family may visit at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 5-8 pm. A private burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Brooklyn. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 4:00pm at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road, Severna Park, MD 21146. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church.
