Joann Maria Mongelli Gale passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and is already missed. Joann was born on November 12, 1953, in Upper Darby, PA, to Joseph and Rita Mongelli (Guzzi). She grew up in West Brookpark/Clifton Heights, PA, and Springfield, PA.

After graduating from Drexel University, Joann met the love of her life for the past 47 years, John. She leaves behind two children, Amanda Perry (Shane) and Matthew Gale (Michelle), and four grandchildren, Layla, Johanna, Sawyer, and Wesely. She is also survived by her sister, Debra Gonzalez (Richard). Joann was preceded in death by her sister, Rita, and parents, Joseph and Rita.

After leaving the Pennsylvania area, Joann moved to Maryland to be with John. She lived in Bowie, MD; Pasadena, MD, and Severna Park, MD. Joann worked for the federal government for many years. She was committed to serving her country. She was loyal and built many friendships during her long career at various agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, and the Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home.

When not working, Joann loved to travel. She went on many, many cruises. And, she had a big spot in her heart for Disney World. She loved taking her children and grandchildren to the most magical place on earth and visited more times than she could count. She loved swimming and was a certified scuba diver. She also loved animals, especially dogs. She had many dogs throughout her life and enjoyed their companionship.

Joann's kind heart, sense of humor, and endless love will be the legacy she leaves behind. It will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday July 2, 2026 from 1:00pm-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care,P.A. 495 Ritchie hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
