Joan Wright

Joan Susan Wright, 62, of Severna Park, died Jan. 15 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. The cause of death was unavailable.

Mrs. Wright was born Jan. 27, 1943, in Utica, N.Y., and reared in Newport, N.Y. She worked as a secretary for the Whitesboro, N.Y. school district. In the 1980s she worked for the YMCA in Severna Park, teaching water aerobics, and at the Severna Park Baptist Church as a preschool teacher. She also was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Wright was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed collecting Hummels, tea pots and dolls. She also loved bowling and was in a ladies' league in the early 1970s.

Surviving are her husband, Jackie J. Wright; four children, Eric V. and Darryl T. Wright and Shelby A. Dobson of Pasadena and Kristopher J. Wright of Severna Park; her parents, Teofil and Sophia Kubala of Utica; two sisters, Nanci A. Phelan and Suzanne Karas of Whitesboro; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.  In Lieu of flowers donations maybe made in Joan Wrights name to the American Diabetes Foundation 1-800- 342-2383.
