Joan Vogelman, 88, a resident of Severna Park, MD, died peacefully on August 11, 2009 at Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD.
Joan was born on January 14, 1921 to the late Annie and Ewart Briggs in Stockport, England, where she was raised with her older sister Beryl.
She attended Convent High School for Young Ladies in Stockport, England and married her husband, Edward L. Vogelman, Jr. on September 18, 1947 and lived in Harundale before coming to Severna Park in 1962.
Joan began her career in the banking industry and retired conducting legal administration.
She was a gourmet cook, a talented pianist, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading.
Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Vogelman, Jr; one daughter; Diane Bennett of Crofton, MD; one son, Ted Vogelman of Spokane, WA; one son-in-law, Stephen Bennett of Crofton, MD; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Vogelman of Spokane, WA; four granddaughters, Joan and Stacey Bennett of Crofton, MD and Sarah and Emma Vogelman of Spokane, WA; and nephews, Peter & (Gina) Wagstaff of South Africa and Brian & (Ursula) Wagstaff of England.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 2:00 pm -4:30 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
A 4:30 pm Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, following the visitation.
Interment will be private at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
