Joan Cecilia (nee Reese) O'Toole, died on December 24, 2009 peacefully after a lengthy illness at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, Maryland.

She was born on April 5, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, where she
was also raised. She graduated from Mount Saint Agnes High School in Baltimore. Joan also graduated as an x-ray technician from Mercy Hospital and worked in the early stages of nuclear medicine out of Bon Secure Hospital.

She married her husband John S. O'Toole, Jr. in 1974 and lived in Crofton, Maryland. In 1976, they moved to the Round Bay community of Severna Park.

A homemaker, Joan enjoyed spending her summer vacations in Ocean City, MD. She was a member of the Annapolis Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Joan was actively involved in her sons' school activities at St. John's in Severna Park. She was a sports enthusiast and an avid Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Ravens fan.

In addition to her husband of nearly 37 years, Joan is also survived by her son John (Sean) S. O'Toole III of Queenstown, MD, her daughter-in-law Karen J. O'Toole, her sister Elizabeth Davey of Ellicott City, MD, her brother Michael Reese of Catonsville, MD, and her granddaughter Molly Jane O'Toole of Queenstown, MD.

Family and friends may visit the BARRANCO & SONS P.A. SEVERNA PARK FUNERAL HOME 495 Ritchie Highway 21146 on Monday from 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church Wednesday at 10:00AM.
