Joan Maria Hudgins, 53, a 25 year resident of Laurel, MD, died at home on February 3, 2009, due to complications from diabetes.
She was born January 18, 1956 in Cheverly, MD, and was raised in Bowie, MD.
Miss Hudgins graduated from Duval High School, received an AA Degree from Prince Georges Community College, and was employed with Verizon Company.
She was a member of the MD Pleasant Journey Chapter of the M.I. Hummel Club and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie.
Miss Hudgins was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Earl Hudgins, who passed away on September 24, 2008.
Survivors include her father, Edward Lee Hudgins, Jr. of Bowie; her mother, Lucia G. Hudgins of Bowie; four brothers, Edward Lee Hudgins, III of Cottage City, MD, William Anthony Hudgins, Sr. of Glen Burnie, MD, M. David Hudgins of Finksburg, MD and John Matthew Hudgins of Laurel, MD. Also, survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church, 7378 Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie, MD. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the JDRF- Maryland Chapter, 825 Hammonds Ferry Road, Suites H-J, Linthicum, MD 21090.
