Joan Helen Furton, 75, of Severna Park, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Nov. 29 at the Severna Park Center, Genesis ElderCare Network, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Furton was born Oct. 7, 1930, and reared in Detroit. She formerly lived in St. Claire Shores, Mich., and Bay Village, Ohio.
She worked in the classified advertising department at

(Baltimore)
Sun
for 15 years.
An avid bridge player, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and her yearly vacations in Ocean City.
The widow of James R. Furton, she is survived by her children, Edward J. Furton of Philadephia, Jan Plewes of Gaithersburg, Bill and Gary Furton of Millersville, Paul Furton of Severna Park and Richard Furton of Glen Burnie; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek Road, Severna Park, followed by burial in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
