Jerry Nickerson, 81, a resident of Severna Park, died on December 29, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

He was born on July 19, 1930 in Boston, MA, where he was raised; moved to NJ, when he was young; then resided in Washington, DC, where he graduated from St. Paul's High School and in 1953 from Georgetown University.

He served in the U.S. Army during 1954-1961.

Jerry loved sailing, the Redskins, Georgetown basketball, enjoyed eating crabs, reading, 1940's-50's music, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his late first wife, Mary Joanne Stock; his late son, Thomas Russell; and his late brother, James Anthony Nickerson.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Tina" Nickerson, whom he married in 1984; his children, Jerome Nickerson, Jr. (Margaret L. Webster) of Washington, DC, William "Bill" Nickerson (Adrianna) of HI, Betsie Russell of Severna Park, Laura Westervelt (Bill) of Arnold, Bill Russell (Pam Gorges) of NJ, Christine Marie Melendez (Israel) of Severna Park; sister-in-law, Patricia Nickerson of MD; brothers, Oliver E. Nickerson of Jamaica and William J. Nickerson of MD; sister, Sister Ruth Marie of Notre Dame, IN; fourteen grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, 21146. Interment will be private.
