LCDR Jerome Buckel (Ret.), U.S. Navy, died on July 8, 2010. Raised in Secaucus, NJ, LCDR Buckel served his country on domestic and foreign soils and seas for more than 25 years. During that time, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and other commendations. In 1971, he retired to Severna Park. Mr. Buckel was a friend to all; more, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His warmth, generosity, and wonderful attitude about life will be missed.

Mr. Buckel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Buckel, who passed away on October 24, 2009. Survivors include his daughters, Deborah Wells (husband, William) of Millersville and Kathleen Hiller of Centerville; sister, Elizabeth Buckel of NJ; brother, Charles Buckel of NJ; grandchildren, Lisa Brooks (husband, Erik) of Philadelphia, Christina Savillo (husband, Robert) of Catonsville; and great grandson, Asher Savillo.

Family and friends may visit from 4-7pm on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.
The service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 12, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
