Jennifer W. McFarland, 46, of Severna Park, died Feb. 23rd after her 4-year fight with breast cancer. Born Jennifer M. Wooten to Jo Alice and Douglas Wooten in Washington, DC on October 4, 1968. She was a devoted, loving mother and wife and public school teacher who loved to volunteer, travel, and read.
Jenn graduated from Arundel High School and received her BA from the University of Maryland College Park, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and her MS from Johns Hopkins University. She taught in Prince George's and later in Anne Arundel County as a lead science teacher at Annapolis Middle and then Brooklyn Park Middle. She was awarded the MD Governor's Citation in Educational Excellence in 2010 before having her early retirement in 2013. She continued to mentor students and read to classrooms and volunteer with the Greater Federation of Women's Club and Food Link Inc.
She married Daniel McFarland in 2001 before giving birth to their greatest joys, Lydia in 2006 and Grady in 2008. Jenn lived life to its fullest with her family right up to her passing!
She is survived by husband Daniel, children Lydia and Grady, mother Jo Alice and step father Michael Mospan, uncle Dan Edward Jacobs and his wife Shari of Chattanooga TN, uncle John Jacobs and wife Harriet of Woodland AL. She is preceded in death by her father Douglas D. Wooten, uncles Donald and David Wooten, paternal grandparents Herbert and Elizabeth Wooten, and maternal grandparents Grady and Mary Jacobs.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday March 1, 2015 from 1-3:00pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146.
A Memorial Service will take place following the Memorial Visitation at 3:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
