Jeanne Marie DeZur Matthews went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2019 at the age of 93.  She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Bill Matthews. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her children Bill (Judy), Steve (Ann), Barbara (Chuck), and Jim.  Jeanne will be forever remembered by her precious grandchildren, the lights of her life: Jen, Kathy (Kevin), Will, Joe, Stephanie (Troy), Shannon (Brian), Shawna (Danny), Michael (Katie), Matthew (Kathleen), Kate (John), Anna, and her eleven great-grandchildren.  She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Theresa (Ray), her brother Carl, and her nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was born in Collingswood, New Jersey to the late Carl Emil DeZur and Jeanne Dooley DeZur.  She graduated from Holy Spirit High and met the love of her life, Bill, on the boardwalk in Atlantic City.  They married in 1944. She lovingly raised her family through Bill's fast-paced, active duty Coast Guard lifestyle.  She was able to make every location feel like home until she made her final home in Severna Park, Maryland where she lived for 32 years.  Throughout her life she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, and playing tennis. She was known for her love of family, her appreciation of a good glass of wine, and her feisty spirit.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:30 am. The burial will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
