On November 19 Jean Ward died suddenly.
She was born in Baltimore on October 26, 1920 and lived in that city until moving to Severna Park in 1951. There she became a member of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon for many years, remaining a member until her death.
She was an avid horsewoman, having owned horses as a young girl and she was a vital member of Severn Oaks breeding farm for fifty years. She continued to ride until she was eighty.
In her younger years, she was a crew for her husband in a series of racing sailboats and was well known throughout the sailing community.
She was an enthusiastic gardener spending many hours with her notable Irises and Lilies. She was a long time member of the Severn River Garden Club.

She had worked as an administrative assistant to an executive of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company until she retired to raise her two children in 1954.
She owned a long series of Boxer dogs. Having had six Boxers over a period of the last 54 years. She was a great supporter of the breed.

She is survived immediately by her husband Ronald L Ward, of Severna Park, to whom she was married in 1947 and her two children, Ronald L. Ward III of Severna Park and Susan Ward Cullen of Arnold, MD, all of whom were at her side when she died.
She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Jean Gabriel Ward and son in law Frank Cullen and two grandsons, Matthew Kirby Ward and Kyle Cullen (live at home).
She was happily married for 61 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at 2:00 pm at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Severna Park. Interment will be private.
