Jean A. Ridner, 96, of Severna Park, MD passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024. She was born on November 14, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey to Walter and Alice Nitschman and raised in Milburn, NJ.

Jean graduated from Milburn High School and would enjoy many years as a homemaker.  She went on to be employed by Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. In addition to Milburn and Neptune, NJ, Jean also lived in Ocean Grove, NJ.

Upon moving to Maryland, Jean became a member of the St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church in Severna Park.  During her many years in New Jersey, she was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Bradley Beach and also a member there of the Vestry and St. Martha's Guild. She was instrumental in sending over 100 care packages to soldiers deployed during the Afghanistan war while her grandson, Stephen, was combat deployed in the Country.   She was a member of the James Ackerman Federation of Jersey Shore Medical Center, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed volunteering at the JSMC Hospice Thrift Store and knitting and crocheting beautiful blankets for her family and friends.

Jean is predeceased by her parents, Alice & Walter Nitschman, her sister Carol, her husband, Paul and son-in-law Michael.  Jean is survived by her two children; Pamela Ward, of Millersville, MD and Gary Ridner, of Oregon. Her two grandchildren; Christopher Ward (Heather) of Arnold, MD and Stephen Ward (Amanda) of Severna Park, MD. Her four great grandchildren; Jackson, Alexander, Allison and Emily. Jean is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 12, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal Church in Severna Park, MD.
