Jean Parker
Jean McEwan Parker, 74, of Arnold, died of complications of Alzheimer's disease June 15 at Somerford Place in Annapolis, where she was a resident.
Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Greenfield, Mass. She graduated from Pembroke College at Brown University with a degree in sociology. She had lived in Newport, R.I., Charleston, S. C., Key West, Fla., Baltimore County and Pittsburgh, Pa., before moving to Arnold.
She worked as a secretary for the Oceanic Division at the Bay Bridge Westinghouse/Northrop Grumman facility.
She volunteered in the communications section of Volunteers in Police Service in Millersville at county police headquarters and enjoyed knitting, especially hats for children.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar H. Parker; one daughter, Leslie Omoto of Papillion, Neb.; one son, Jonathan G. Parker of DeBary, Fla.; and four grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Ruth Whitesell.
There will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will be in the Naval Academy Columbarium at 11:30 a.m. Friday. A reception will follow at the Naval Academy Officers and Faculty Club. Participants should enter by Gate 8 at the academy and have a photo identification. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
