Jean Imgrund Milone, longtime resident of Chartwell, passed away at the age of 97 on Saturday, July 27, 2024. She answered God's call peacefully surrounded by family.
Jean was born October 28, 1926, in West Orange, New Jersey, the eldest of John and Mary Mulvaney Imgrund's five children.
Jean attended West Orange High School, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and, most importantly, met the love of her life, Robert Milone. After graduation from high school, Jean attended Berkley College and began her career as an executive secretary in New York City.
Jean married her best friend and love of her life, Bob Milone, in 1949. They began their life together in Livingston, New Jersey, and then moved to Dayton, Ohio. Their five children were the pride and joy of her life. Jean organized all events in which her children were involved including Dayton Dolphin swim meets, theater at Alter High School, Centerville football, Severna Park football. This continued when her grandchildren were involved in dance, swimming, baseball, soccer, football, diving, field hockey water polo and lacrosse. She attended dance and theater productions for her great-grandchildren.
In 1973 Jean and Bob moved to Maryland and became parishioners at Our Lady of the Fields Church. Jean worked at the Maryland Legislature as Secretary to the Minority Leader in the Republican delegation.
Jean was very active in volunteer service in each community she lived. This included PTA and school board, sports boosters, scouting to serving as an officer in NAECON women's group and coordinating the baskets for the yearly auction for Severna Park Republican Women. Jean was recognized with an award from ASPIRE for her years of volunteer work with Partners in Care.
One of her proudest accomplishments was establishing a patient and family education program for rehab patients at Good Samaritan Hospital.
In 1982, Jean and Bob opened The Little House, a hostess gift and party supply shop in Severna Park. She loved working with customers planning events.
Jean loved traveling with Bob and documented the many adventures they had with her "golden girlfriends" from New Jersey, and Brittany Hills friends from Ohio, and neighbors in Maryland.
Jean is survived by her daughters Buffy Jordan (Sandy), Megan Davis (Stephen, Sr.), Laurie Milone, grandchildren Caroline Petrovick (Bethany), Stephen Davis, Jr. (Annie), Melinda Davis, Gretchen DeVinney (Sean), Courtney Davis, Jack Davis, Catherine Davis, Christopher Davis and great-grandchildren Lucy, Arthur and Grant Petrovick, Stephen III and Peter Davis, Thomas and Hannah DeVinney.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of almost 75 years, Robert Milone, and her children Melinda Milone, Robert Milone, Jr., John Milone, and her grandson John Petrovick.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, August 9th, 2024 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at 12 PM at Our Lady of the Fields Church, 1070 Cecil Avenue S., Millersville, MD, 21108. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
