Jean Early Mack, 85, of Gambrills and formerly of Bowie, died of cancer March 10 at Regency Park Assisted Living in Gambrills after a brief illness.

Mrs. Mack was born and raised in Needham. Mass., and attended college in Massachusetts. She joined the American Red Cross during World War II.

After the war she was a private secretary for Admiral Byrd in Washington, D.C.

Following her marriage she was a homemaker and raised her family in Bowie. In the late 1980s she moved to Florida, returning to Maryland in 2002 to live with her son in Severna Park. She moved to Regency Park about 19 months ago.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are three sons, Christopher Mack of Severna Park, Gregory Mack of Sterling, Va., and Stephen Mack of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville, Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
