On September 21, 2011, Jean E. Godwin went to be with the Lord. She passed away at Genesis in Severna Park, MD with her loving husband at her side.

Jean was born in Rocky Mount, NC to Anne May and William Jasper Everette. They moved to Newport News, VA, both were welders at the Shipyard during WW II. Jean is survived by her three sisters, Gwendolyn Smith of Newport News, VA, Joyce Renolds of Summerland Key, FL and Myra Scalolini of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and her brother, Marshall Everette of Douglasville, GA.

Jean was a steno-typist at N.A.C.A. (now NASA) at Langley Field, VA, where she met her future husband, Ray Godwin. They were married by her boss, Cecil Morris (a former missionary) in 1954. They then moved to Adelphi, MD where Jean worked at the Naval Ordinance Lab. and Ray went to the University of Maryland to get his Master's Degree.
They had their first child, Lawrence, there and then moved to their current address when Ray got a job at Westinghouse-Friendship. Their children are Lawrence William Godwin of Lake Shore in Pasadena, MD, David Alan Godwin of Halethorpe, MD and Dr. Susan C. Godwin, ND of Fairbanks AK.

A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the BARRANCO & SONS, P.A. SEVERNA PARK FUNERAL HOME, 495 Ritchie Hwy. 21146. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00am at the SEVERNA PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 731 Benfield Rd. 21146 with the interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
