On the evening of November 13, 2015, Jay passed away peacefully after his battle with cancer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore- Washington Medical Center. Jay had been comforted by both family and friends during the night. Jay was 53 years young.

Jay was born on July 23, 1962 in Washington DC. He moved at an early age to St. Louis, Missouri. While living in St. Louis, Jay grew and developed into an avid sports fan and athlete. Prior to 3rd grade Jay moved to Arnold, Maryland where Jay attended St. John the Evangelist. Even at his early age Jay demonstrated his wonderful wit and humor which he continued to maintain up to his final moments of life. Jay began his high school career at Martin Spalding where he was a two sport star in both soccer and lacrosse, ultimately receiving a soccer scholarship to James Madison University.

Jay enjoyed a wonderful family upbringing; along with his younger sister Alicemarie. The Magner household was one of love and laughter. All Magner get togethers were "family" events which included non-family s and friends, alike. This loving environment was the framework that made Jay such a wonderful dad to his two precious girls, Erin Faith and Colleen Joy. Even under duress battling his disease Jay never complained and always displayed an inner strength that along with all his other wonderful qualities as reflected in the values his parents instilled in Jay.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents Rosemary and JB Magner. Jay leaves behind his two wonderful daughters Erin and Colleen and his sister Alicemarie along with numerous family and friends.

Special thanks goes to all Jay's Doctors and nurses and staff members of Baltimore-Washington Medical Center as well as the Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crownsville for taking great care of Jay during his struggle with cancer.

The Memorial Mass will be held at St. Johns the Evangelist on Friday, November 20th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, we are asking friends and family to donate to Colleen Magner's College Fund, 480 Ixworth Court, Severna Park 21146.
