Janice Wilson, age 66 of Annapolis, MD passed away on October 11, 2019 with family by her side.

Janice Alberta Thurman Mott Wilson was born on July 16, 1953 to Joe Ben Thurman and Jeane Lucille Myers. She grew up in Orem, UT. Janice loved to swim and enjoyed working as a lifeguard. She actively participated in Girl Scouts and even travelled to England with them. Her love of the outdoors led her to pursue an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in Recreation & Leisure Studies in 1975.

During her time at the university she met and married Douglas J. Mott who would become a U.S. Marine. Together, they moved to a variety of locations within the United States while raising three children. She shared her love of swimming with her children. Each summer, she taught swim lessons and had her family at the pool learning water safety skills. In 1988, Janice's husband died of cancer She raised her three children in Annapolis, MD while earning a Therapeutic Recreation certificate at UMCP and interning in the Traumatic Brain Injury unit in Baltimore. When her mother was diagnosed with dementia & Alzheimer's, Janice became her mother's daily caregiver for five years. During this time, Janice found great fulfillment working as an academic and recreational aide in the school health program.

Janice found love again and married Mark A. Wilson in the Washington D.C. Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 19, 1998. She was active in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs and helped many boys progress and attain the rank of Eagle Scout, especially with swimming. Throughout her life, she served in her community and church. The children she taught in Sunday school knew that she loved them. Janice made commitments and kept them. Her loving heart was open to everyone and she was quick to offer a helping hand. Flowers brought her great delight, especially her rose and tulip gardens. She loved preserving memories and pictures through scrapbooking. When hard times came, she faced each challenge with courage and faith in Jesus Christ. She valued and loved her family.
