Janetta Ruth McFarland, of Crofton, passed away on October 10, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 15, 1950 to Vincent and Dorothy Mintus in Utah and was raised in Irwin, PA. She attended Penn High School, then went on to the nursing program at the University of Pittsburgh and then The Catholic University to receive her Masters. Janetta joined the United States Army and worked as a nurse, retiring with the rank of Major. She was also a pediatric nurse practitioner and then retired from Kaiser Permanente where she worked as an infusion and oncology nurse. She enjoyed watching the Steelers play football, traveling, sewing and knitting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her partner of 20 years, Dan.

Janetta is survived by her daughters, Sara (Keith) Willoughby of Gambrills, MD; Emily McFarland of Crofton, and Anna (Jimmy) Rhodes of Crofton; her siblings, Diane (Robert) Sheets of Everett, PA, David (Ruthie) Mintus of Colorado Springs, CO, Christopher (Carol) Mintus of Greensburg, PA, Mary (Kenny) Mehok of Munhall, PA, Jonathan (Louis) Mintus of North Huntingdon, PA, and Fred Mintus of Irwin, PA; as well as 7 beloved grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A., 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD, 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11am at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD, 21108. A catholic burial with full military honors will take place on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Arlington National Cemetery at 11:00 am. Anyone who is attending must be at the cemetery at 10:15 am and masks are currently required. All individuals over the age of 16 must bring a government ID as well.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cameron Heyward Foundation, 745 N.
