Jane Sturges Baynard Wingard of Cape St Claire passed away on November 30, 2024. She was born to James Swinton Baynard and Sadie Lee Harmon on August 5th 1945 in West Point, New York. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Rick Schultz, Ginger and Steve Andrews and Todd and Michelle Wingard. Her grandchildren and their spouses, Morris Frederick (Trey) III and Brittney Schultz, Alexandria(Dria) Hayden & Andrew Trovinger, Nicholas and Kellee Schultz, Matthew and Holly Andrews, Vivian Wingard, and Noah Wingard. Her great grandchildren, Brennen, Aaliyah, Nova, Aubri, Nicholas, Lillian, Cain, Julianna, Landonn, Morris Frederick IV (V).

Jane lived a colorful life filled with artistic expression and joy. She studied at the University of South Carolina and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1967 and her Masters of Art in Teaching in 1977.

She married James Larry Wingard in June of 1966. After his passing, she married Martin Albert Hayes in March of 1980. Retiring from her lengthy career as an art teacher in 1998, she, along with John Guyton, Gordon Gustin, Martin Hayes, and Joanne Wilson founded 2nd Star Productions in January of 1996. She remained as President and Artistic Director until she stepped down from her presidency in 2017. She remained as a member of the Board of Directors and Lead Set Designer.

For her work with 2nd Star, she won several awards, including from the Washington Area Theater Community Honors (WATCH) for her set design and painting. She was a prominent figure in the greater Washington D.C. area theater community, and has touched many with her boisterous personality.

Her memorial service will be held at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146 on Thursday December 5th at 12pm. A wake and celebration of life are to follow at her home. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
