Jane Kidwell Reynolds, 100, a 47-year resident of Annapolis, died on April 25 at Ginger Cove of natural causes.
Jane was born August 11, 1908 in Alexandria, VA, to the late George Franklin and Roberta Pierpoint Kidwell. She was the youngest of six children and was raised in a large family of very close nieces, nephews and cousins in Alexandria. After attending Alexandria public schools Jane completed studies at the Strayer's Business College in Washington, D.C. Her very satisfying working career spanned over 35 years at the Washington regional office of the General Motors Acceptance Corporation as executive secretary to the manager. Jane was the matriarchal head of her family and exemplified the meaning and strength of family and friends. For many years she opened her home to provide for elderly and orphaned relatives. Her lifelong membership and participation in the Methodist Church was most recently with the Cape St.Claire and Calvary United Methodist Churches in Annapolis. She enjoyed her bridge club for many years and travel in the United States and Canada by rail. As a tomboy she was in demand to play baseball with the boys and later enjoyed being a regular spectator of professional baseball. Jane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and special aunt, as well as a loving friend to so many.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph R. Reynolds, Sr. and by her sisters Catherine Kidwell, Estelle Mount and Louise Smith, and brothers Linwood and Alfred Kidwell.
Jane is survived by her son, Joseph R. Reynolds, Jr. of Arnold MD; grandchildren Kristin E. Shelton, Joshua R. Reynolds and Jeremy R. Reynolds; great-grandchildren Grace Shelton, Maxwell Shelton and Emma Jane Shelton.
